What is Regression Therapy?
Most of our problems, psychological or psychosomatic, arise from our experiences that we may or may not remember. By regression, a person is made to get in touch with or relive those memories that still interfere with our present an create a disturbance in our our current circumstances.Regression therapy is a therapeutic process that uses one’s earlier life experiences as source material to resolve current problems.
Presenting complaints like fears, depression, or sexual problems have causes. Also personality problems like passivity, or negative convictions like “it’s all my fault” have causes in the past. The same is true for many physical complaints.
The process creates a sense of understanding, integration ,and ultimately purification from the past experiences that are unassimilated. By regression we contact the past, we still carry with us now.
Regression may cross the boundaries of current life and one may, if necessary, relive images and experiences from past lives and such a regression is called Past Life Regression. Exploring past lives enables a person to have a deeper insight to an experience which may be hovering around one’s present and can be unsettling.
Regression is discovering and reliving earlier experiences that have caused present complaints and conditions. Regression therapists use reliving to get to forgotten, ignored or repressed experiences that are bothering people, but also to reactivate positive feelings, forgotten positive experiences and sleeping talents.
Those forgotten experiences contain emotional wounds that never healed or triggered persistent half-conscious convictions. Such programs (“character traits”) only change when we understand how they were caused and why we have held on to them. Finding and reliving undigested experiences unlocks emotions and bring insight into how present complaints have their roots in those experiences.
Clients may experience their birth or the prenatal time in the womb. They may hear what people shout when they lie unconscious at the pavement with blood coming out of their ears. Many experience what seem to be past lifetimes. Others trace their problems back to the influence of deceased family members or other presences. Sessions with mothers may heal babies. Spiritual experiences are not uncommon. Regression therapy is clearly transpersonal psychotherapy.
Hypnotic Regression is a journey back in time to recover memories and explore events from the past, whether in a current life or in a past life.
Age Regression Therapy – Age Regression involves taking a client back to a younger age to recover memories that the conscious mind may have forgotten or partly forgotten. Age Regression can be used to treat phobias/fears, patterns of negative behaviour, self sabotaging behaviour, childhood trauma etc.
Age Regression can also include womb regression, going back to that special time when you are in your mother’s womb
Understanding the cause/origin can often be enough to solve the problem, however, sometimes other healing interventions are used to release/heal more traumatic events.
Regression therapy has helped many, resolve their fears and phobias, dealing with traumas, relationship issues and illnessess that seem to be erupting out of nowhere. Each session is directed towards Catharsis, which is an emotional release that leads to emotional peace.
